Where Would We Be Without Shakespeare’s Words?
Three years after William Shakespeare’s death, his brilliant plays are being
pirated & wretchedly performed. The friends are horrified when they learn
through a shocking loss just how much of Shakespeare’s words are kept
in memory rather than in writing. They become determined to preserve
the work & commit to printing it all in one volume before it is lost forever.
First, however, they must find the plays – all 36 of them! Join them in their
heartful, funny “wild goose chase” to create the ultimate guide to Shakespeare;
the First Folio.

The Accelerated Reader Program through Renaissance Learning
is the tool we use to practice & support reading in our Classrooms.
Students are able to choose to read a book or article that is of interest
to them. A reading level & goal are set for each student based on where
they are as readers. When a student completes a reading, they take
a short quiz to monitor comprehension. Based on their score, students
are given points toward their individual goal. At the end of each trimester,
incentives & celebrations are available for students who meet their goals.
Progress is monitored through a diagnostic benchmark, STAR Reading,

A group of Palestinian & Israeli women attend a video workshop at a small
town community center run by Rona (Dana Ivgy, Zero Motivation), a young
filmmaker from Tel Aviv, who teaches them to document their lives.
As each student shares footage from her home life with the others, their beliefs
& preconceptions are challenged & barriers are broken down. The group comes
together as mothers, daughters, wives & women living in a world designed
to keep them apart, forming an empowering and lasting bond as they learn
more about each other… and themselves…

7:30-10pm - An award-winning ensemble known for its “open hearted singing”
(Lauri’s List) & adventurous programming, Tonality represents the diverse cultures
& ethnicities within the Los Angeles area. Tonality uses their collective voices
to present concerts on themes of social justice in hopes to act as a catalyst toward empathy & community activism.
In their latest program You Are Not Alone, Tonality sings of the labels placed
on those with mental illness. These fellow community members, treated
as “different” reflect on our shame & feelings of misunderstanding.
This concert speaks through the eyes of poets and artists who have dealt
or deal with mental illness issues. Additionally, the concert explores how we
can be of support to members of our community who need compassion,
understanding & validation.
Additionally, the concert will include spoken stories of those within our
Los Angeles & Tonality community as well who are personally affected
by these issues. We can heal & grow together, through our united story
& bond through singing. Tickets: $25-$85.
